MERV 8 is an efficient home filter, balancing between air flow and filtration. Having enough air flow allows for less stress on your system and improves the heating and cooling rates of your home. I highly recommend the MERV 8 filter for your home unless you have allergies, which I would go with MERV 11 then.
MERV 8 has about an 85% efficiency rate at removing particles between 3.0 and 10.0 microns. This would include removing lint, dust, dust mites, pollen, and mold spores.
